July 2008 Newsletter
The 4th of July race went off with a ‘big bang’ thanks in part to fire works provided by the McDole/Slawiak team. Our biggest car count of the year was on hand to entertain the crowd.

The 35 lap feature, sponsored by J. B. Banta Enterprises, was a hard fought battle for positions one through eighteen, putting on a great show for the fans.

Keith Butler was the winner and recipient of the $500.00 Barfield Clean Sweep award for winning the heat and feature events. David Slawiak won the Real Racin USA ‘Hard Charger’ award, starting ninth and finishing second.

There has been a change in the schedule for the CFSS August race. On August 16th we will be racing at Citrus County Speedway in Inverness, Florida. This will be our first trip to Citrus County and will be another 35 lap feature event this one being sponsored by Gulf American Construction and Development Corp.

This race will also pay $1120.00 to win the feature and $280.00 to take the green flag in the feature. The race at Charlotte County Speedway on August 23rd was canceled, in part, to prevent a scheduling conflict with another racing organization. Our next race at Charlotte County will be on September 20th.

We would like to send our condolences to Tommy Holloway in the recent passing of his stepfather.

We would also like to send our best wishes to Margaret Riddle who we hear is on the mend after a short bout in the hospital. We hope to see Margaret back at the races again real soon.

Plans are in the works for our first annual Awards Banquet for the Checkered Flag Sprint Series. We are looking at the first weekend in January (the 3rd) as the date for this event. Mark you calendars and we will follow up with more details as they become available.

Church Bulletins: ‘The peacemaking meeting scheduled for today has been canceled due to a conflict.’
