Checkered Flag Sprints Set to Debut at Citrus County Speedway
|
Tampa - Saturday, August 16th, the Checkered Flag Sprint Series will host a non-wing sprint car event. The newest sprint car racing series in the state will be making their first appearance at Citrus County Speedway in Inverness, Florida.
The race program at Citrus County Speedway’s lighting fast 1/4 mile paved oval will consist of 8 lap heats races and a 35 lap feature event sponsored by Gulf American Construction and Development Corp. The feature will pay $1,120.00 to win and $280.00 to start the feature. Also up for grabs will be the Barfield ‘Clean Sweep’ and the Real Racin USA ‘Hard Charger' award.
Some of the best non-wing sprint car drivers in the state will be on hand to compete in Saturdays show. David Slawiak the point leader, along with Keith Butler, Gary Gimmler, Scott Adema, Mark Gimmler, Bryan Riddle, Shawn Namor, Dakotah Stephens, Darrin Miller, Ryan Partin, Amanda Ferguson and others are all expected to race.
David Slawiak has a slim lead in Championship points chase over Keith Butler and Gary Gimmler. Slawiak has won three times this year.
Pit gate opens at 2:00pm; front gate opens at 4:00pm. Racing will start at 5:30pm

The 4th of July race went off with a ‘big bang’ thanks in part to fire works provided by the McDole/Slawiak team. Our biggest car count of the year was on hand to entertain the crowd.
The 35 lap feature, sponsored by J. B. Banta Enterprises, was a hard fought battle for positions one through eighteen, putting on a great show for the fans.
Keith Butler was the winner and recipient of the $500.00 Barfield Clean Sweep award for winning the heat and feature events. David Slawiak ...
